"Weekend" George will sample you through a gathering of the newest arrivals to hit Suburban's shelves.
Here is the line-up:
Pazo de Arribi Godello '09
The Godello grape is beginning to make its mark in the U.S…..anyone caught up in the Pinot Grigio trap should be drinking this instead. Pazo de Arribi is from Spain's Bierzo region.
Rolf Binder Riesling Highness '10
Pure, dry, and stunning, this Eden Valley, Australia Riesling gives substantial credibility to Southern Hemisphere white wine. Slate, mineral, high acidity, lots of body, very complete.
Neumayer Gruner Veltliner Engelberg '09
We head to Austria as often as possible, and when we do, we drink colossal wines like this Gruner. You could spend big bucks on Alsatian wine, but it ain't gonna taste like this!
Chateau Lamargue Syrah Les Grandes Cabanes '08
Negociant/winemaker Jean-Luc Colombo is behind this Southern Rhone Syrah, from the Costieres de Nimes AOC. Fresh and young with red berry fruit and licorice notes. A steal.
Blue Coast Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon '09
This too is a South of France red, made of Cabernet by a progressive and environmentally-sustainable producer. Stylistically somewhere between Bordeaux and California.
Poggio del Querce Il Guado '07
Il Guado is a Bolgheri Rosso, meaning that it's a Bordeaux blend from coastal Tuscany….the home of Sassicaia and Ornellaia. 80% Cabernet and 20% Merlot, with impressive depth.
Plus One Surprise Mystery Wine….
